We love meeting the wants and needs of our guests, helping them along on their journey to complete this or that objective. Whether it be the Terrifying 25, the 52 With a View, or, in this case, the NH 48 4000-footers, we’re on it. This post covers such a trip, this one led by Redline Guide Rhonda Willette. What follows are her words and photos helping a guest get…
Six More Toward the NH48 — Zealand, Bonds, and the Twins Overnight
An experienced White Mountain hiker working on the NH48 and 52 With a View joined us for a classic overnight in the Pemigewasset Wilderness — a perfect introduction to backpacking on big terrain.
We made our way to Zealand Falls Hut, then climbed to Zeacliff for one of the best viewpoints in the area. At Guyot Shelter, we dropped our overnight gear. (The tent platforms were already full, so we set up in the shelter instead.) With lighter packs, we headed out to Bond and Bondcliff, enjoying the stunning views before returning to Guyot for the night.
We enjoyed a sunrise right from the comfort of the shelter and then it was time to brew our coffee and pack up. We walked out to West Bond where we cooked and ate our breakfast with a sweeping morning panorama. Then it was time to make our way across the Twinway to South Twin and continued to North Twin.
Across two days, this hiker added six summits toward her NH48 — a solid accomplishment for a first backpacking overnight and a confident step into deeper backcountry travel. —Rhonda
