We get a lot of people reaching out to us looking for a Mt Washington guide. Being it’s our tallest mountain, and with such a reputation for causing harm and delivering strange weather, it makes sense they don’t want to go it alone. Hiring a guide is smart, allowing not just the hiking experience, but learning about a number of related topics along the way. What follows are a few words from Redline Guide Debra McCown, along with 38,215 photos.
A mom from New York had Mt Washington on her bucket list for a while, so she came with her son to visit the highest peak in the northeast. We went up Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, hiked through wind and clouds on the summit, and descended along the Cog, where we got to see multiple ascending and descending trains, including a coal-burning steam train! —Debra
