Originally our returning guest wanted to hike Mt Katahdin on this trip but the itinerary was changed, mainly due to potential weather. Instead of their Maine Mission, the team — led by Redline Guide Debra McCown — decided on Mt Washington and a Southern Presidential Traverse to include Mts Monroe, Eisenhower, Pierce, and Jackson. Next up is a short summary from Debra followed by some photos.
This returning guest had originally planned on Katahdin, but with a rainy forecast that was no good for his planned scramble route, we decided to pivot to something else. He said he’d always wanted to hike the Tuckerman Ravine Trail to summit Mt Washington, and I suggested adding Monroe, Eisenhower, and Pierce. The weather was better than expected, so we tacked on Mt Jackson to the plan for a full day of mostly above treeline hiking. We had some clear ridge-top views and also some clouded ones, but the temperature stayed cool with a light breeze, and overall it was a great day in the Presidentials! —Debra
