Once again Camp Tevya — a Jewish summer youth camp — reached out booking another half-day of adventure with us. This time we began our day at the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. Once organized and outfitted the kids followed the lead of six Redline Guides: Debra McCown, Rhonda Willette, Bethany Bourget, Mary Fields, Tim Jones, and Gregg Ludvigson. As a team they took on a counterclockwise loop beginning with Direttissima Trail, then hopped onto Glen Boulder Trail, transited the tunnel that passes under Route 16, visited Glen Ellis Falls, doubled back and crossed the Ellis River on Wildcat Range Trail, then continued on Lost Pond Trail back to the starting point. The original idea was to also hike up to Square Ledge, but by the time they reached the junction, the kids were all set. To their credit it was very hot and humid which is tough hiking weather for anyone. Check out the photos taken by the collective of guides (the group was private so identifying photos weren’t taken).
