Perfect Mt Washington Day

It wasn’t too hot, and it wasn’t too cool for a couple visiting from Connecticut. It was a perfect day in the alpine, in fact. The plan was to summit Mt Washington using the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail to Crawford Path to summit, the carry on to Jewell Trail or use the Cog Road. The latter option was selected. Leading this hike was Redline Guide Gregg Ludvigson. He also provided the following summary and photos.

Great Day on the Rock Pile!

It was a beautiful day to take two new guests up the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail and to summit Mount Washington. Temps were in the 50s, with clear skies. The stops at the Gem Pool, and upper Ammo Falls (the Gorge), were refreshing, since the air near the water was a bit cooler.

Our first long break was at Lakes of the Clouds hut, where our guests had some of the home-made goodies, and they said it was delicious.
Next stop, the summit of Mount Washington. The trail above tree line was a bit warmer due to being in direct sunlight, even though the temperature was only in the lid 50s. We reached the summit around 11:00, and the area was already swarming with people. After a few pictures, and some lunch, it was time to make our way down.

Our guests were a bit tired, rightfully so, by the time we reached the parking lot, they had a great day, and they did an incredible job not having hiked anything like this with so many rocks before. Now they are off to do a Via Ferrata in the rockies. Have fun you two! —Gregg

Great work, Gregg, and to our guests, well done up there and thank you for choosing Redline Guiding!
