A mother and her son were looking for a hiking guide and reached out to us thanks to some Facebook referrals. On point for this adventure was Redline Guide Rhonda Willette. It was a great choice and Rhonda showed them a great time choosing an entry-level 4000-footer: Mt Pierce. We could go into detail but Rhonda is stepping up a chief story teller on this. Our guests today were a woman and her 15‑year‑old son from Pennsylvania, both avid hikers — and she’s traveled and hiked all over the world. With a last‑minute getaway to New Hampshire and no time to plan, she reached out for a guide to help them choose the right mountain. Mt Pierce turned out to be the perfect fit for this mother–son duo.
At the summit, we decided to loop down to Mizpah Hut for a little variety, and she said afterward it was absolutely the right call. It was exciting to accompany them on their first New Hampshire 4,000‑footer. Only 47 more to go. —Rhonda
