We were founded and opened our doors in October of 2016. About five or six months later we were inspired to give back to the trails we love so much. Being there are many ways to show our appreciation — like pouring money into some agency or some fund — we opted to roll up our sleeves and actually perform trail work duties under the supervision of the Saco Ranger District, White Mountain National Forest. This, we knew, could result in us doing some gnarly, dirty, and sweaty work, while bugs would try to eat us alive. We knew it could suck. That said, we also knew this would be the best way to give back. Actual work gets done. Important work. Fully transparent and very much appreciated.
This year, 2026, we organized our 9th Annual Trails Day, and with the help of a number of eager volunteers (some having done this with us many times in the past), the NH Trailworkers’ Group, Wild Raven Endurance Coaching, Tuckerman Brewing Company, and, of course, the US Forest Service, we all worked together to make it happen.
The project was to remove two derelict bridges on the Nanamocomuck Ski Trail (near Bear Notch Road). It was fun, we did sweat a little (it got nice and we had some breezes), the bugs were actually okay, and the team went right to work upon arrival making it happen. The bridges were disassembled, the wood and debris organized and stowed trailside. This winter the USFS, using snowmobiles and sleds, will remove the final traces or these bridges. Note this when skiing on the trails this winter. The bridges will not be replaced.
Thank you to everyone who supported this effort, especially those who helped. We couldn’t have done it without you. Now, let’s check out some of the photos taken collectively by some of those on scene.
