Two Three Season student groups have walked our halls, so to speak, and now two Winter Season groups have followed in their footstep. Not literally, though. Of these four student groups, this final winter group is the last in the series. That said, we’d like to add that more good stuff will be coming. Possibly enhanced progressive programs, but for now we can say will be tweaks for everyone to be sure. We learned a lot during these sessions — though hopefully not as much as the students did. In any case, moving forward we want to make the offerings even better.
As defined previously, this group would basically complete our two-day Winter Mt Washington trip starting with a full day of training then following that a summit attempt hiking in front the west. Both days were carried out with Redline Guides Will Murphy and Brian Wasiewski. There was more to it than this for two students, but that will appear in an up-coming post. For now, let’s check out the photos from this weekend…
Day One: Training Day
After a morning-long classroom session, the hands-on training segment including crampons use and self arrest, was conducted for our seven students at a local spot we use for these classes — our training grounds.
Day Two: Summit Day
Horrifically strong winds would put a cap on today’s adventure but four out of the five who did partake in the standard second day did in fact summit Mt Monroe. What an epic, to be sure, they should be patting themselves on the back — high fives all around.
