Are you ready? We are... Meet the Ready Pack: It's everything you need!

Baxter Peak or Bust

Continuing the saga from our previous telling, let’s fast forward to a few days ago and we’ll let Redline Guide Arlette Laan tell it:

As we left the Mahoosucs, ‘Little Bird‘ and I started talking about how awesome it would be to hike Katahdin together and instead of hoping it would work out with my schedule, I offered to drive her up there — we were flip-flopping already (and had quarantined together for the past two weeks) so what’s one more flip? This way she would also have some easier terrain coming up to recover some from the Whites. I was lucky to find two nights for camping in Baxter State Park so we were able to wait for the good weather day on Friday. And it was worth the wait! What a spectacular day! Little Bird is now making her way through Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness. I hope to connect with her again when she gets further south. —Arlette

We hope to serve Little Bird’s future guiding needs as she sews up the AT once-and-for-all. In the meantime, armchair adventure with us and check out these fine photos taken by Arlette.

Fresh as a daisy and ready to hike after more than three weeks of backpacking.

It was obviously a very easy hike.

Yowza… watch that first step. It’s a doozy.

Almost there… it’s Baxter Peak.

Summit cairn.

THE classic shot. Congratulations!

Award-winning views looking into the Great Basin and Chimney Pond as well as Hamlin Ridge and North Basin.

Hard day at the office. Siestas are big in Holland.

Done here Little Bird descends. Time to go hiking.

Great lead, Arlette, you’re a good friend and guide to Little Bird. You rock. And Little Bird, congratulations for the progress you’ve made. Thank you for again choosing Redline Guiding… hopefully we can serve you in the future.
