Some who reach out want challenges, to sweat, but not always. Sometimes people just want to see samples of our grandeur. The nice temps of fall, the not-peak-but-still-wow colors, all with a hint of winter. It makes for a memorable experience. Leading this “Snowliage and Waterfalls” outing — as Tim put it — was Redline Guide Tim Jones. His words and photos follow…
A new guest from Connecticut wanted a tour that included foliage and waterfalls, with some light hiking. That was easy: a loop that included Lower Falls, Rocky Gorge, Sabbaday Falls, Crystal Cascade and Glen Ellis.
Mother nature helped us out with a couple of bonus points. More than 2 inches of rain had fallen in the previous days, and the waterfalls were all putting on a spectacular show. And some snow showers that morning gave us a taste of ‘Snowliage’ on Bear Notch Road and in Pinkham Notch.
The temps were cool, the wind was brisk, the trails were just challenging enough and the guest says she had a great time. —Tim
