We call them “Tourist Tours” when a half day hike or nature tour doesn’t meet the needs of our guests. You see, we’re not always about extreme adventures. We’re here to serve people on all levels. In this case two tours were booked by a company from New York called Mad Tours and Events. They reached out hoping to have us guide a visiting couple on two different days. The couple was from the Ivory Coast in Western Africa (see inset), just south of the equator and were looking to do some low-key sightseeing in New Hampshire. We accepted the mission.
The couple was in the United States to visit their daughter who was enrolled in a Massachusetts university and they wanted to maximize their experiences during their visit. On lead for the two requested tours was Redline Guide Mike Cherim. The first trip was to leave from Lincoln. Due to traffic, parking, and other consideration, a walking tour on the Lincoln Woods Trail would likely be ideal. The second day was on the eastern side of the WMNF as the couple had changed locations, now staying at The Wentworth Inn of Jackson. There Mike met them and proceeded to show them Glen Ellis Falls, Crystal Cascade, the Cutler River, and a few other bits and pieces in Pinkham Notch.
