Biting insects and hot, humid weather used to occupy many of our thoughts. They have been replaced, much to our delight. Now we’re better able to take note of the positive superlatives. For example: it’s cooler and, barring a little rain now and then, drier. The biting insects have for all practical purposes, vanished. And the mostly green visuals have tuned into a kaleidoscope of fall colors. In other words, for those who appreciate these things, it an amazing time of year to hike and backpack. That’s what one guest wanted to do and we put Redline Guide Chase Hall on the mission. The overnight destination being the lovely and somewhat now more disconnected (thanks to a closed forest road) Sawyer Pond.
