Another Day on the Ridge

Franconia Ridge that is. The well-loved, often written about, and severely over-visited Franconia Ridge features seven summits — though not THE seven summits. These are, north to south: North Lafayette, Lafayette, Truman, Lincoln, Little Haystack, Liberty, and Flume. The latter two are often hiked together as a looped trail network exists. And of the former, Lafayette and Lincoln are the main objective on the northern half as they (like Liberty and Flume) count for the list. These, too, are also served by a loop-style network featuring four trails. The others like North Lafayette which, living outside of these loops is less visited, and Truman (also referred to as North Lincoln), and Little Haystack don’t count as they lack prominence. That said, despite their lack of prominence, none of these summits holds back on the views they can offer on clear days.

On this day Redline Guide Howard Aronson led a single guest on the famed northern end loop heading up Falling Waters Trail, covering Little Haystack through Lafayette via the Franconia Ridge Trail, then descending via the standard combo of Greenleaf and Old Bridle Path Trails. Howard grabbed a few photos which we, of course, turned into a major motion picture. đŸ˜‰ Enjoy!

Good work, one and all. Thank you for adventuring with Redline Guiding.
