Pierce & Ike Variety Show

A guest came to us looking for some adventure. She was new to hiking, but really fit and quite capable of a day of hiking the Whites. On point for this was Redline Guide Ken Hodges, but this was by way of a last minute substitution. The target was pre-selected, and was to be Mt Pierce by way of the Crawford Path — a perfect starter 4000-footer. When Ken “checked out” — we have an online form for this — he posted a “Plan B” of Mt Eisenhower. This was a good thing as that peak also got counted. We’d love to tell you it was a perfect hike, but we’d fibbing. It rained hard on the way to Ike, and even harder on their hike back to the junction by Pierce. Our guest got a little bit of everything… and variety is good, right?

Had to stop at the old damn heading in. Crawford Path is the oldest continuously-used hiking trail in the United States.

Soon they are above treeline and headed to Mt Pierce. No views at the moment.

The summit is found anyway.

They don’t have the summit to themselves. People are out in record numbers. Good advertising?

They aren’t by themselves on the Mt Eisenhower summit either. There are hoards of people.

Not to shame anyone, but not everyone is aware of the damage they can do. Please do NOT stand or walk on small alpine vegetation.

Views before the rains.

The ridge appears less crowded.

Well done, team. Thanks for adventuring with Redline Guiding.
