The plan was to utilize Zealand Hut (open for self service in winter) to help lessen the pain of doing the Bonds. On this trip led by Redline Guide Chase Hall, our oft-returning guest working on his Grid. As a departure from the norm, here are his words to describe the trip.
Bond Cliff, Bond, and West Bond with Chase Tuesday for 488/576. Ww went in from Lincoln Woods and also hiked over Guyot and Zealand. We really lucked out that three, two-person teams were hiking in the opposite direction, breaking the afternoon trail out. We finished the day in the dark hiking over Zealand Ridge and down to Zealand hut. The wood stove was a welcome site. 17.2 miles the first day and 6.5 today to hike out. I was completely done by the last three miles. Views of the Presidentials were spectacular at dusk last night but I was way too tired to take pictures. —Guest SW
