A new guest came to us looking for a companion on what is known to be the most challenging hike in the WMNF: Huntington Ravine Trail. She had been hiking all summer, crushing peaks, but Huntington is one of those Mt Washington trails that make people pause and consider all that is to be considered. She stated she was on the slower side but had great endurance. The latter was proven today. With her was Redline Guide Bethany Bourget and she was impressed, to say the least. A short summary and some photos follow…
You don’t need a lot of grace when you have a lot of grit… my guest and I fit in quite well together on that. Today was a supreme day in the alpine for ascending Huntington Ravine. Not an easy feat by any means, and to be able to help our guest accomplish this at the age of [redacted] was beyond inspiring and humbling. She showed correct caution, great skills with footing and hand placement, plus determination and focus while sending it up the headwall and chimney. Her strength is absolutely one for the books. Thank you for letting me be there to guide you along on your journey! All smiles, all day with all the pristine jokes and laughs along the way! —Bethany
