A couple of climbers, trained and tried once, were stopped at Mt Washington’s door (probably due to weather). They were back, and after it again. Or that was the plan. The next date selected for it ended up being what would have been a great summit day but one that sounded bad enough beforehand that they opted to pass on the date and move it to a new one. This is where Redline Guide Erik Samia stepped up taking the lead on mountain. Spoiler alert: the weather messed with them again, once again stopping them, and other guided teams, at Lion Head. Apparently, though, they did have a good time as told in Erik’s summary, followed by a few photos.
Had a great day out with our guests. With the high avalanche forecast and increasing winds, we made great decisions as a group. Even with this recent snow storm, underneath was bare and rocky making things slow going, but they did great. We topped out on Lion Head (as high as anyone got up today) and had a successful descent back down to Pinkham Notch. —Erik
