Our recent Snow Moon Snowshoe event was a big success. We had seven participate — led by Redline Guide Mike Cherim — and they were from all over, hailing from Quebec to Florida with a couple of New England states well-represented in the middle. The super low temperatures were a cause for concern, but everyone was decently geared-up and ready, at least for the objective at hand. On that front, we decided on Mt Willard of the 52 With a View fame. Though the group was so fast, our second choice, Mt Avalon, could have worked. The goal for this outing was to enjoy a relatively safe night hike, check out the full moon, and enjoy some hot tea or cocoa on the summit. All of these checkboxes were ticked. The one checkbox not ticked was having exclusive use of the mountain. Between other hikers and even a couple of fat tire bikers on the ledges, the place was hopping, at least for a winter evening.
