Sometimes numbers are important. The number of mountains remaining on our lists, how fast we hike, or how much we gain, but only sometimes do we care. Other times there are so many other, better things to focus on. Things that are more fun. Or more rewarding. This is the take of a many time returning guest working on her 48. We called to ask how her hike was, which mountain — Mt Passaconaway (4,043′) — this was for her, and to get other feedback, and her refreshingly honest answer was that she didn’t know. “Maybe it’s 13.” We love it.
Some of the feedback we also wanted to get was what our guest thought about our newest Redline Guide Jess Kowalski as this was their inaugural lead with us. On that front our guest told us that “that girl gets me.” We love it. What a positive statement to make. Very impressive. Also impressive was that Jess hiked this mountain on their own prior to the paid hike to better increase their understanding, knowledge, and experience. Talk about going that extra mile. Though in this case it’s more like that extra nine miles. Very cool!
Good job, Jess! And to our guest congratulations on 13ish maybe. Thanks for continuing to adventure with Redline Guiding.
