One returning guest just spent the past couple of days realizing that a tremendous amount of work is required to complete certain tasks in the alpine environment, especially in winter, and that the land above the trees is a magical place where peril and delight may suddenly change places, but he got to experience it in a positive way, in the right way. This was thanks to the oversight and encouragement of Redline Guide Ryan McGuire. The plan was to complete a Presidential Traverse, all part of training for a five-day Mt Baker later on this year. It didn’t happen. Winds, pack weights, and more winds all conspired against the completion. That said, however, the experiences gained were awesome. All of it leads to doing this stuff better the next time around. They did get to camp in a alpine zone in the col between the Presidents Mt Madison and Mt Adams, and both peaks were summited. Sounds like it was a win to us! Check out these photos and clips…
Good job, team. Good lead, Ryan, and to our guest, thanks for adventuring with us. Now it’s time to focus on what’s next!
