A stretch of warm weather and some rain really had a number of people concerned that the season was over, even though it’s Spring, it’s not quite over in the mountains, though the melting and rain did do some serious damage. For example, the Lion Head Winter Route on Mt Washington is more like an ice climb than the steep snow climb we’re more accustomed to. The photos that follow will support this. That said, our Two-Day Winter Mt Washington is still chugging along. Over the past couple days, in fact, Redline Guide Debra McCown ran one such program one-on-one for a fellow from Ohio. To him this was quite the novel experience. They called it at Lion Head due to timing, but what an epic it was. Before we get into the photos we’d like to thank Black Mountain Ski Area in Jackson for partnering with us and letting us use some of their snow for our training. They’ve allowed us to do this for several years and we just want them to know how grateful we are.
