Not to be confused with last week’s MWOBS trip. this group was originally slated for a date in January. It didn’t happen, though, thanks to insane triple-digit wind speeds, and negative double digit temperatures at the time. Thankfully our partnership with the Mt Washington Observatory (MWOBS) is a solid one and they were able to come up with an alternate weekend for us. And as out turned out, mostly everyone from the original cast was able to pivot and join this new adventure. We had hopes that this new weekend would be doable. And it was. It wasn’t easy for the team, though. The predicted wind speeds weren’t going to make this trip a cake walk. The team, both guides and guests, were going to have to push hard, both up and down. Thankfully temperatures were not forecast to be super cold.
Leading this trip were Redline Guides Eric Hansen and Chase Hall. Combined, both have an enormous amount of winter hiking experience, are used to trying conditions, and can navigate well (a skill which was needed). Before we get into some photos, we would like to extend our gratitude to the MWOBS staff and New Hampshire State Parks for letting this awesome event happen. We — along with 23 people on a 2027 waiting list — are looking forward to next year’s trips. In the meantime, check out these images…
