Numbers 35 and 36

We love being part of the solution and helping people achieve their adventure goals. Described in this post are two days and two 4000-footers needed for winter by our guest for numbers 35 (Monroe) and 36 (Cabot) out of 48. Leading this tour was Redline Guide Mike Maciel. What follows are his word and photos.

Our many-time returning guest was back again to continue chipping away at his winter list. Friday we were spoiled on his longtime nemesis Monroe, where the conditions were just about perfect. Some of the rarest words in the Presidential Range are ‘Light & Variable,’ yet here they were for the 3rd time in 5 days. If this keeps up, we’re going to start getting spoiled. Have no fear though, Mountain Goddess would have the last laugh with an arctic blast planned for Sunday, originally intended to be our second day out. Thankfully for all parties involved we had some flexibility in the schedule and we were able to thread the needle by pivoting to a Saturday morning ascent of Mount Cabot. The land of marshmallow trees treated us well and we got back to the car just as the winds picked up and the bottom started to fall out of the thermometer. It doesn’t always go as planned, but it’s fun when it does. Good to see you again, guest. We’ll see you soon enough for the last 12! —Mike M.
