Our Grid-Getting Guest was at it again, this time the objective was Owls Head — his 12th and final time, now “Gridded out” as they say. We applaud the effort! For those who just got here, to “Grid” is to hike all the NH’s 4000-footers in every month of the year — a multi-year effort, usually. Leading the trip, as usual, was Redline Guide Chase Hall. Normally, aside from adding a few superlatives about the awesome day, the trail, the mountain, the company, and the vibe, we’d end this blog post here. Normally.
This time there’s a twist: Due the impending temporary closure of an important arterial trail (Lincoln Woods) — one needed for this hike — another returning guest who needed Owls Head for the list — for her first time — called and asked about getting on the schedule as quickly as possible for this one. The trip Chase was leading was the very next day, and after some Q&A we determined this could possibly be a decent pace match so we invited her along. It was late notice on both ends of the conversation, but she decided to go for it.
As it turned out, it was a good match. The team completed their mission in a timely manner, everyone had a great time on a beautiful day, enjoying this “long walk in the woods” and a last Owls Head and a First (and also last) Owls Head were completed, two hikers reaching their respective goals. We congratulate both for getting it done. What follows are a few photos of this epic.
