Splitboarding Trails and Glades

A person reached out to us about using their splitboard (a snowboard that can be formed into rudimentary skis for uphill travel, better known as skinning) in the backcountry. New to the sport, at least in the backcountry, a Backcountry Intro Course was recommended. Leading the charge on this educational adventure was Redline Guide Pat Ferland (welcome back). Pat offered an assortment of objectives to include a CCC ski trail (namely the Doublehead Ski Trail) along with some glade riding at Maple Villa in Bartlett/Intervale. Pat reported there were amazing conditions in both locations… as mentioned by Pat in the following summary.

Amazing day of backcountry skiing conditions. It couldn’t have been better for an intro to class to start off our day at Doublehead in Jackson and then ended up over at Maple Villa for the last run of the day going down Soup Time off of Pine Hill top. It was a little bony at first but the bottom two-thirds was amazing. Our guest is already looking forward to his next time out in the backcountry. —Pat

Great lead, Pat, and to our guest, well done. Thank you for choosing Redline Guiding.
