Working through his assistant, a father from Las Vegas, NV, reached out. He was going to be up this way on along with his two grown sons, fraternal twins from Brooklyn, NY and Sherman Oaks, CA. They were up here on vacation and wanted to take on a 3-4 hour half day hike. Not an easy one either but something they’d feel and remember. As was relayed to us, they wanted something “level 5 or 6.” Assuming this difficulty was on a ten scale we had some ideas. The assistant also mentioned they were staying at the Omni Mt Washington Hotel so taking on something in Crawford Notch made sense. We decided the 3460′ Mt Avalon from the 52 With A View list would be spot on — and it was. We did consider others like Caps Ridge (normally closer to a full day) but with the cold wind and rime ice at higher elevations, it was Avalon for the win. Out and back took about 3½ hours and it was a good fit for this family. Leading the charge was Redline Guide Mike Cherim.
These are awesome (referring to the photos)! I’m hearing nothing but rave reviews from the guys. Thank you so much for making this such an amazing experience! —Our guest’s assistant, SL
