The original plan was to hike Franconia Ridge as our guest from Jackson Hole, Wyoming wanted, but it became apparent to guide and guest that shift in the plan was going to be needed, between the rain and wind, the ridge wasn’t going to be a happy place. Our guest understood perfectly and did lay out the reality of shifting hikes right from the start. They ended up hiking Mt Garfield. On lead for this trip was Redline Guide Bethany Bourget. Here’s what she wrote:
Our guest was wonderful and we shared great miles on trail in the Whites. While the morning/afternoon weather above 3,000 feet did not cooperate for expansive views and a ridge hike, we shifted out plans and absolutely made the best of it while swapping stories of travel, goals, and life while getting a taste of the summit winds and clouds that the erratic White Mountain’s weather can offer. —Bethany
