A new guest reached out looking for a knowing companion to come along on his Owls Head Hike: Number 20 on his 4k list. Often this is considered a “long walk in the woods,” as some actually say, but it can easily take twelve hours or more. On our booking form, however, this guest provided some times of prior hikes giving us some background. With this info we felt that he would do this hike in under twelve hours so he wasn’t charge the extended day rate — and at 11.5 hours we were right. Guiding on this trip was Redline Guide Bethany Bourget. She offered us a summary of the day along with the following photos to support this post:
An absolute stellar day with terrain, weather, and company. Our guest summited and accomplished his 20th peak of the 48 4,000 footers. Owls Head is not a quick and easy day, per se, but to balance that, the peak foliage was fantastic, the water crossings were manageable, and the slide was a blast. As our guest said himself: ‘Had this hike been done solo, I would have merely endured it. With Redline Guiding, I was able to enjoy!‘
Grateful to be there to help you along! —Bethany
