Buying a ’round trip train ticket assures our guests a guaranteed way back to the start (on Mt Washington), provided they reserved a late-enough train so they don’t miss their ride. Since most of the awesomeness of achievement is all about hiking up — and what an amazing day they had for it. Though to many people hiking down is merely a means to an end. The Cog Railway offers a neat solution. This trip involved such a strategy, a hike up followed by a train ride down. Leading our two ladies from Ontario on this mission was Redline Guide Bethany Bourget. What follows are her words and photos!
A grand day was had… a mixture of comfortable temperatures, endless views, and low winds equalled a successful summit day on Mount Washington for our guests. While not being ‘big hikers,’ they really showed their true colors, grit, and strength in every which way ascending the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. We had a ball and it was a pleasure to bond, joke, laugh, share stories, help and guide them while being in such great company. —Bethany
