A fellow from Maryland planned to spend a number of days playing in our playground. And while he was from Maryland — a person one we might refer to as a flatlander — he took to our hills with the spirit of adventure and apparently, legs of steel. He hiked some impressive hikes only to outdo himself by taking on a second hike on the same day. And he did this multiple times during the week — both with and without our help. For his hikes he asked a lot questions and made them happen on his own building upon some basic info we provided. He did hire us, however, for a day of rock climbing thrown into the mix. As he had some climbing experience Redline Guide Glenn Van Neil did a little top-roping to shake him down, so to speak, to see if he was ready for some multi-pitch climbing. He was. Glenn then moved to another spot for a pretty cool climb on Cathedral Ledge called Upper Refuse. There he also excelled as well. Stoked for action, he plans to come back for more — and to maybe introduce his son to these things. For now, we offer some photos of the climbing.
