New Moon Presidentials

Join Us for a NEW MOON Traverse Across the Southern Presidentials!

Craving adventure? If so, we have something wicked cool for you to try. Join us for a Southern Presidentials Traverse (Mt Monroe to Mt Pierce) during the New Moon in August. The entire lunar cycle is referred to as the Sturgeon Moon and for this dark sky tour we will see it in its first phase (with a mere sliver of moon allowing for great starry views). To check it out at the full moon phase, please consider joining us on this Franconia Ridge Traverse later in August (on the 23rd). Keep reading for the details…

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the plan if the weather is inclement?
There is a bit of a gamble when joining this type of trip as there’s never a clear-skies guarantee. That said, if the weather seems dangerous we would pivot to doing something less exposed, less dangerous, while still offering an exciting night experience.
What’s the plan regarding transportation?
Some participants’ cars will be used to shuttle hikers to the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead some will be left at the Crawford Path Trailhead (at the Highland Center). Together we will work as needed to get everyone to their cars at the end.
Will I need any specialty gear for this event?
In addition to the proper warm and protective layers plus hat and gloves, food, and about two liters of water, speciality gear needed will include a good headlamp with spare batteries (or a second headlamp), plus trekking poles, especially if it’s windy.
I am interested in this but I want a private trip?
No problem. We can set this up this type of trip as a private tour with your own dedicated guide. This can be on the same date or on another applicable date per your choosing though bulk pricing won’t be available unless you have your own group of four or more.
