Full Mt Washington Experience

He reached out to us from his home state of Connecticut with a simple objective: To summit Mt Washington… and to hike back down. He had done it before. Twice in fact. Summited, that is. Once via Lion Head Trail and once via the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. And he summited on both tries, but — well, the big difference is this time he was resolved to hike it instead of taking the shuttle down the Auto Road (to which there’s no harm in that unless hiking an official list with rules barring such a thing if the mountain is to be “counted”). And counted it may be as our guest summited and hiked back this time! Mission complete!

Leading this trip was new Redline Guide Perry Flowers. He reported that they ascended and descended via the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. He added that the conditions were pretty bad and they were totally socked in the whole way. On the way down they encountered a brief downpour offering our guest the full Mt Washington experience. Perry said “there were no views, but it was still a beautiful day” and we totally get that. Rain means fewer bugs, thinner crowds, and our visual focus is put on the miracle right before our very eyes. As we like to say here at Redline HQ: A 95% chance of rain also means there’s a 5% chance of awesome!

Great lead, Perry. And to our guest, great job closing that circle. Congratulations!
