The Carters are not generally considered a favorite mountain to most, though we’re sure they are special to someone. Right?! Mostly, though, we hear of them in a derogatory fashion. Some even refer to them as the “effing Carters” — but we won’t name names. So why would someone hike them? Well, if hiking the 48 or doing the Grid (doing all 48 each month of the year) as the protagonist in this story is, you kinda have to. But are they worthless lumps. We think not.
