As much as we like variety, the number of options is indeed finite. Thus, for those working on their GRID of all the 4000-footers in every month, repeats are inevitable. And that’s okay. Many of the trails are worth repeating several times anyway — and just stick with that mindset to protect your sanity. Leading this oft-returning guest on Mt Isolation — again — is Redline Guide Chase Hall. This time he again led them to this isolated mountain via Glen Boulder (a favorite of Chase’s).
Just keep going, Isolation will soon be Gridded out. My guest today is working on the GRID and we’re slowly chipping away at Isolation. This was our 4th time tagging isolation. This one was a new month but to get there we used an old route — my favorite way to get to Isolation in summer. Glen Boulder is 12 miles with 4,986 feet of elevation gain, yes, but it’s a hike worth doing over and over again because the views are some of the best views in the Whites. —Chase
