Hot Day, Cool Water

You’ll find the title of this post both extremely relevant to the day as well as being all too fleeting as it concerns the cool water Redline Guide Chase Hall mentions in his notes, below. The wonderful feeling of dipping those feet in that luxuriously cool water was very short lived, a tiny percentage of the day. It wouldn’t be mentioned, either, if it wasn’t so amazing.

The Carters are in great shape for a hot hike. The trail was dry and the crossings were a delight. The hike up Carter Dome Trail to Zeta Pass was very humid. We talked about prior hydration for hot days as we hiked. It was very humid between South and Middle Carter. The guest only needed those two carters summits today. On the descent we stopped and dipped our feet in the water to cool off. The stream water is still very cold but it was a really good relief from today’s very humid hike. —Chase
