While our guest did beat the Carters — South and Middle Carter, anyway — it really was the Carters that won. Carter Dome was supposed to be next you see and that plan was scrapped. The monorail’s to blame. Postholing can be tough business. So much so our guest wanted none of it on day two. The NH 4ks can wait. It was time to turn to another list, part of which is absent the snow. They took on South Moat with Middle as an option. Leading these were new Redline Guides Gregg Ludvigson and Debra McCown, respectively. Photos are from both…
Day One: South and Middle Carter
This was one really tough hike but it did not break this Indiana man. Some call them the Effing Carters… shall we add one more?
Day Two: South Moat
Ahh, this was much better. Though, that said, this was reportedly overheard: “Never overlook the practicality of the butt belay.”
[…] He had a great day out in the sunshine, and said he felt like he got a good data point for the pace he’s comfortable with hiking on this type of terrain. His other big takeaway from his hikes with us this week: He realized that he doesn’t have to find people to go with him in order to do the things he wants to do. By hiring a guide, he can safely and confidently experience the adventures he wants to pursue on his own. — Debra
Great job one and all. Fine leads from our guides, and to our Indiana guest, thanks for choosing Redline Guiding!
