The first group was for hikers aged 17-25. For them it was a free training opportunity funded by Hiking Buddies and delivered and discounted by Redline Guiding! The objective and result was a group to trained and certified folks heading into the hills. This second group was a bit different in that this one was for members aged 26-126 — old people — and it wasn’t a free ride but rather a discounted one. Same objective, same result.
Like the last event, this was a two-day affair with day one dedicated to a combination of courses featuring a hiking introduction, including LNT, and a river crossing skills class. Good stuff, with plenty of water to learn with. Day two was a trek into the hills with a focus on decision making, trail selections, some on- and off-trail navigation, and more. The class also got to practice their newly acquired river-crossing skills, this time to get to the other side. Redline Guides Pat Ferland and (the newly joined) Gregg Ludvigson were this course’s instructors. Here are some photos.
