A couple weeks ago — back in the fall — our guides were skiing in the backcountry, sending frozen waterfalls and frosty couloirs, and generally settling into a winter of fun. Until, that is, winter actually hit. From that point came the rains and warm weather and for a while now it seems like what some consider the best season of all was revoked, taken back, cancelled! It’s not, not really. It won’t be. We’ll have tons of ice and snow and cold weather… eventually. But in the interim, we’re having to get clever because, as they say, the show must go on. That’s what Redline Guide Pat Ferland did with an 8-year-old guest who was super stoked to swing some tools and get on the ice. Sure, it was brittle thin, and wet, but it worked and our guest, a some-day Mt Everest aspirant, relished the experience making several laps during their Intro to Ice course.
