Franconia Ridge Traverse

Guide Intern “Red” enjoying the falls.

There’s a chance we’re doing something right since a number of our guests keep returning to us to do or learn more. It’s getting to be a thing. And because of this we’re ecstatic. Welcome back, we say. Let’s have some fun. That’s what happened August 2nd: a day of fun for a returning guest, Tom, who went out with Redline Guide Arlette Laan recently on a Hut-to-Hut Presidential Range Traverse.

This time they had their sights set on a day traverse of the northern half of the Franconia Ridge covering the summits of Little Haystack Mountain, Mt Lincoln, Mt Truman (North Lincoln), and and Mt Lafayette. The tour ended at the hut as per the wish of our guest who planned to make his way down the mountain at his pace and convenience the following morning.

Arlette was able to grab some photos of the hike — which looked amazing — and offered the following sentiments:

What an amazing day on Franconia ridge! I hiked up Falling Waters trail with Tom and from Little Haystack to Lincoln [to Truman] to Lafayette. We then descended to Greenleaf hut where Tom was going to spend the night and enjoy the lovely dinner (jealous). He’ll hike down at leisurely pace tomorrow while I hiked down quickly back at my own pace. What a great day and so much fun! With Redline Guiding. —Arlette Laan

Approaching the top of the main push upward. That’s the Kinsmans and Mt Cannon in the background.
