Six-and-a-Half Months In

The original name of this article used to be “Six Months In” but being busy forced us to shelve it for a couple of weeks until we had more time. Thus the title now corrects the timeline. Officially launched in mid-October of 2016, we’re about six-and-a-half months old, our first full season — winter — behind us.

So how are we doing, you might wonder. Well, in a nutshell, good. Better than expected. Also different than expected. Where we thought hardcore winter attempts on Mt Washington would see us through the season, it was in fact our excellent educational offerings and hiking adventures that have done so well for us, all gaining popularity. Especially our new Glacier Skills course. That was a surprise being it was introduced mid-season and that we don’t have glaciated peaks in the region (people train here for trips elsewhere). It’s a solid, detailed course that runs very well.

So, by the numbers, without giving away too much, we’ve had 114 bookings (not including weddings or reservations submitted by paper form or completed on-location at the time), and we carried out 35 trips/classes… with a lot more currently on the books, including two October foliage hikes (smart to book ahead for this one).

To thank for this… well, our 1000+ friends and followers are responsible, no doubt. Plus hard work pays (just like dad promised) and better still, we have some great people on the team. These folks are among the most passionate outdoors people we know and their knowledge, experience, and love for the mountains comes through clearly to others. Or as one of our recent guests wrote:

What I valued most about this experience was working with people who so obviously love what they do and where they do it. I have a very special connection to the mountains, and being outside hiking is more than exercise. I felt that the staff at Redline Guiding share that same feeling. So having that extra connection made the class more meaningful. The staff were all extremely patient, especially when something we were learning didn’t click right away. Your level of professionalism was exemplary, while at the same time you were loose, and fun and authentic. I left the class having learned new skills, but also left with a knowledge that I can reach out with questions. –AF, Concord, NH

Wow, that makes us feel pretty terrific. That’s not the only one, either. In addition to the feedback we get directly, we also have a number of positive reviews on Facebook, Trip Advisor (3 out of 10 tours in North Conway), etc. And there’s even more. Just check out our ever-growing soon-to-be multi-page testimonials. We can feel the love and it’s flowing like water.

Stay Tuned

We have a number of cool things coming in the near future that we think a lot of people will be excited about. We are already, just being in the know. So, please stay tuned. And in the meantime, for our first six-and-a-half months, thank you!

Okay, back to work.
